Summary
Brad gets sick. Naturally, David takes it upon himself to help his coworker out, but Brad Bakshi does not ask for help, nor does he accept it easily. But David is different. Unfortunately, David Brittlesbee is also incredibly arachnophobic, and Brad has lots of pets that give him panic attacks.
in other words: brad gets sick, has a mild crisis over it because he hates being sick, and david learns far more about brad than he was comfortable knowing. namely, about the presence of arachnids in the same apartment that brad sleeps in. but david stays anyway, because he cares about brad, so brad helps him overcome his arachnophobia in return (because really, it would suck a lot if david never came over to his apartment again. david's the only person brad actually likes. not that anyone ever has to know.)

Summary
Brad is pretty much a professional at hiding his own issues, especially of the mental variety. It's practically second nature to him.
What's not second nature, however, is talking about those issues out loud. Not even his psychiatrist has been able to break down his walls, and he doesn't believe in therapy, so it's beyond surprising that his coworkers of all people are what finally pry him open for all to see.
